These three paintings are inspired by the everchanging Wisconsin River, season after
season, near Spring Green Wisconsin. They are each done in oil on gesso panels. |
 |
High Desert Heat -- High up where the air is thin and colors jump even the
shadows glow. Huge rock formations here are almost overwhelming in power. This is mixed
media painting - acrylic, pastel & conte, 48" x 48' |
 |
Monterey Coast -- Where the pacific ocean meets the rocks and crags of
shoreline at Monterey, California. Seals and spindrift are behind each rock. This is a
mixed media drawing/painting - acrylic and colored conte on a gesso panel, 48" x
48". |
 |
Rainbow Stream -- High in the Sierra Mountains is this clear little stream in
among the huge granite boulders. This is an oil painting on a gesso panel 48" x
48". The actual colors of the painting range through the blues and purples to rose
and lavender with accents of bright yellow and green, a cheerful painting. |
 |
Secret Cave -- This small painting, 16" x 24" is oil on a gesso
panel. The earth holds secrets. |
 |
Shore Rocks -- A bold rendering, in acrylic and graphite on clayboard 18"
x 24", this is of rocks along the shore of Lake Michigan in Door County, Wisconsin.
They have a life of their own. |
 |
Southwest Air -- Flying in toward Albuquerque, I wanted to remember the
Southwest as the spacious magical place it is. This is an oil painting on canvas, 48"
x 48". |
 |
Stream Pebbles -- With light washes of acrylic paint and detailed graphite
drawing this mixed media painting, 20" x 24" is one of a pair inspired by the
gentle flow of clear water over the pebbles in a mountain stream. |
